Embracing Innovation

Our patients expect and deserve the highest quality of care available, and we are committed to exceeding those expectations. To do so, we not only rely on our competent staff and the 50+ years of experience our doctors have; we believe in giving our patients and providers some of the most advanced and sophisticated technology available on the market today.

Optomap® Digital Retinal Imaging System

The Optomap® Ultra-Wide Field Retinal Imaging device offers the latest in diagnostic eye health technology, allowing our doctors to visualize one of the most important structures of the eye.

The retina is a paper-thin tissue located inside your eye that contains the cells responsible for capturing light and transforming it into nerve impulses that are then sent to the brain. Damage to the retina can occur due to trauma or disease and can lead to blindness.

The Optomap® uses a sophisticated system of lasers and mirrors to scan the retina and create a digital image of this critical tissue. Optomap® images aid in the diagnosis of most retinal diseases and can often allow us to make a diagnosis sooner than would otherwise be possible through traditional dilated eye exams. Many times, it even allows doctors to evaluate the health of your retina without the need for dilating eye drops!

Doctors Cash and McAllister recommend Optomap® Digital Retinal Images for patients of all ages at least once per year. The test is completely painless and the instrument is able to capture an image in less than ½ a second!

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

Like an MRI for the eye, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) quickly and painlessly measures the thickness of the retina in microns, generating a 3D map of the ocular structures inside the eye. Considering a human hair is 50 microns thick, that’s impressively detailed imaging! While the retina is about the thickness of a piece of paper, it is made up of ten distinct layers laid out in a complex, intricate pattern across the inside wall of the eye.

IdealEyes prides itself on offering the same cutting-edge technology found in leading health centers and VA clinics throughout the country.

The Zeiss Cirrus 5000 offers state-of-the-art retinal mapping that measures retinal thickness and creates digital images of all 10 retinal layers. The instrument is so precise that it is able to detect microscopic changes in retinal structure long before those changes are visible to the doctor during a traditional dilated eye exam. We not only use this technology to monitor and treat patients with ocular health conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy, but we offer all patients access to this technology to help us detect conditions that have the potential to compromise your vision before any symptoms occur.

Humphrey Field Analyzer

Our patients with glaucoma are very familiar with the Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer. This technology has long been the gold standard by which optometrists and ophthalmologists monitor the progression of glaucoma, but did you know the technology has changed significantly since its inception?

Glaucoma causes irreversible, progressive vision loss and blindness, with vision damage occurring in the peripheral vision first. The visual field test measures peripheral vision loss by presenting a series of small, faint flashes of light and records patient responses to each flash with the click of a button. The first visual field tests would take 20-30 minutes to perform! At IdealEyes, we offer the latest in visual field testing technologythe Zeiss Humphrey Field Analyzer 3 with liquid lens. It allows us to test for peripheral vision changes much faster, taking an average of less than 3 minutes per eye!

iCare Tonometry

No puff eye pressure checks!

Eye pressure checks are an important part of your comprehensive eye exam because having higher than normal eye pressure increases your risk of developing glaucoma.

If you’ve ever had an eye exam before, you have likely experienced the dreaded “air puff” test, but you don’t need to worry about that because we offer iCare tonometry.

Our patients love the iCare IC100, and it is the preferred choice for our office. The test is more accurate, hygienic, and faster than traditional pressure screening tests, all without any puff!
