Eye Exam
Eye Exam, Winston-Salem, NC
Regular eye exams from an optometrist are an important part of your overall health care. Many eye conditions develop gradually and may not have any symptoms until they reach an advanced stage. Our skilled optometrists can detect potential issues early on, increasing the chances of successful treatment and preventing further damage. Eye exams can also reveal signs of other underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and even certain cancers.
At IdealEyes in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, our experienced eye doctors provide eye exams for patients of all ages. Our optometrist will take the time to listen to your concerns, thoroughly evaluate your vision, and provide personalized treatment that meets your needs.
What do eye exams include?
At IdealEyes in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, we do more than just check your vision. Our eye exams are designed to evaluate the overall health of your eyes and detect any potential issues before they become major concerns. During your eye exam, we’ll assess your vision to see if you need prescription lenses, evaluate how well your eyes work together and how efficiently they focus, and create a treatment plan for any issues we detect. We also use the latest and most advanced technology to detect early signs of eye diseases and other medical conditions that can affect your vision and overall health.
Optomap® Ultra-Wide Field Retinal Imaging
At IdealEyes, we use Optomap® Ultra-Wide Field Retinal Imaging, which is a high-resolution imaging device that can capture detailed images of your retina. The Optomap® imaging is painless and takes less than half a second. In many cases, it allows our doctors to evaluate the health of your retina without dilating your eyes!
We recommend Optomap® scans for all our patients at least once a year, even if your vision seems fine. The wide-field imaging enables us to detect and diagnose a variety of eye conditions, including retinal tears, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. By capturing a larger area of the retina, we can identify potential issues earlier, which means more effective treatments and better outcomes for patients.
Optical coherence tomography
(OCT)
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses light waves to create a detailed image of the retina. Our team at IdealEyes uses the Zeiss Cirrus 5000, a state-of-the-art retinal mapping device that measures retinal thickness and creates digital images of all 10 retinal layers. All our patients have access to this technology which helps us detect conditions that may impact your vision before symptoms appear. With this technology, we can detect even the slightest changes in your retina and diagnose eye conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy in their early stages when treatment is most effective.
Technology & Innovation
At IdealEyes, we prioritize staying up-to-date with the latest technological advancements in eye care technology. Our commitment to incorporating cutting-edge technology ensures that you receive the highest standard of care available in the field.
